Diesel engine has large load, high thermal efficiency and higher requirements for oil. The gasoline engine load is small, the gap of each part is more precise, the requirements of oil and diesel oil is very different.
The difference between diesel oil and gasoline oil is mainly reflected in the oil viscosity, to know that the working condition of diesel engine is relatively poor, the need for stronger (friction pair surface) oil film strength, so the viscosity of diesel oil is higher, otherwise it can not ensure that the engine lubrication in place.
Secondly, the oil additive is different, diesel engine in the combustion engineering, will form sulfuric acid or sulfite, once channed to the oil pan, will naturally affect the performance and life of the oil. So for diesel oil, it needs more antioxidants, anti-corrosion additives. Compared with diesel engine, gasoline engine volume is much smaller, the combustion process will produce a large number of sludge, which puts forward higher requirements for the dispersion performance of lubricating oil, the sludge dispersed into relatively small particles, suspended in the lubricating oil, so as to avoid blocking machine filter.
Diesel engine volume is much larger than gasoline engine, in the combustion process will form a large number of carbon deposits, which has higher requirements for the cleaning performance of lubricating oil, in order to be able to quickly clean down the carbon deposits, to ensure the normal operation of diesel engine. Diesel engine oil contains more additives than gasoline oil for the same volume.
For large hybrid fleets and military fleets that have both gasoline and diesel vehicles, it is better to use general-purpose oil in order to simplify the variety of oil and avoid engine failure caused by using the wrong oil. The lubrication performance of general purpose oil should meet the performance requirements of gasoline oil and diesel oil at the same time, and the composition of the formula should be carefully selected and balanced, and the selection of the composition is much more complex.
Because the additive amount of general purpose oil is more than ordinary gas and diesel oil, the price is higher. However, the dose of general purpose oil is large, the oil change cycle is longer than ordinary steam and diesel oil, and the oil consumption is relatively low.
